Every year on January 22, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unity. This holiday was officially established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On the Day of Unity of Ukraine" dated January 21, 1999, No. 42.
Day of Unity is a special day in the history of Ukraine – on January 22, 1919, the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic into a single independent state was proclaimed in St. Sophia Square in Kyiv. It is fundamentally important for its state-building and its people.
