Every year on August 29, Ukraine solemnly honors the memory of its defenders who sacrificed their lives in the relentless pursuit of independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The struggle for independence has been a centuries-long journey for the Ukrainian people, marked by extraordinary valor and profound sacrifice. These efforts culminated in the late 20th century with the declaration of Ukraine’s independence and the establishment of our sovereign nation.
Today, we remember and honor every individual who laid down their life for Ukraine. In a symbol of mourning and tribute, the National Flag of Ukraine was flown at half-mast at the Embassy. We have also shared informational materials prepared by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine on our social networks to commemorate the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine (details at the link).
Furthermore, the diplomats discussed the enduring struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence and the historical significance of commemorating our fallen defenders on August 29 during a segment aired on the Kuwaiti radio program "Radio with You" on August 23, 2020 (details in the link).
We uphold the memory: Alive as long as we remember.
