On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence and National Flag Day, the Embassy of Ukraine in the State of Kuwait hosted a commemorative event attended by representatives of the Ukrainian community, Embassy staff and their families, Kuwaiti media representatives, and friends of Ukraine.
The event was opened by Ambassador of Ukraine to Kuwait Maksym Subkh, who presented an overview of key milestones in Ukraine’s 35-year history of independence, as well as 33 years of friendly relations between Ukraine and Kuwait.
In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted Ukraine’s efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, firm and reliable security guarantees, free the Kremlin’s political prisoners, and bring home Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia.
Particular attention was paid to humanitarian support for Ukraine. During his recent visit to Ukraine, the Ambassador delivered humanitarian assistance provided by the Ukrainian community of Kuwait and the Embassy to a number of Ukrainian institutions:
The Ambassador also conveyed words of appreciation from representatives of the respective Ukrainian institutions for the assistance provided and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ukrainian community in Kuwait for its active support of Ukraine.
The event also highlighted the Ukrainian community’s participation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine’s “Steel Allies” initiative, launched in cooperation with UNITED24. A new humanitarian initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to raise funds for the purchase of 10 emergency medical vehicles was also presented.
Guests were also briefed on the new digital consular services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as well as the Embassy’s educational and cultural initiatives.
A special feature of the event was an exhibition of Ukrainian flags bearing the signatures of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and volunteers, a photo exhibition by Eduard Kryzhanivsky entitled “Brave to Be Strong”, and a photo zone featuring elements of traditional Ukrainian culture and everyday life.
